Sirdal Summer Park
Over recent years, Sirdal Skisenter has been at the forefront of summer activities here in Sirdal. It all started with the first Mountain Cart track which arrived in 2018, and little by little the area has been developed and expanded.
In the summer of 2018, construction of Høyt & Lavt Sirdal began, opening as early as September the same year. Right from the development phase, the Scot Wendy Dalgleish has been involved. Wendy came to Norway as early as 2015, and has stayed ever since.
Wendy was an early contributor to the start-up of what was formerly known as Sirdal Booking, an accommodation complex that today consists of two buildings and a total of 24 apartments right in the middle of Hulderheimen in Tjørhomfjellet. From Sirdal Booking, the path to Høyt & Lavt Sirdal was a short one for the smiling Wendy. She had extensive experience from both the ski industry and climbing parks abroad, which came in very handy for the newly established climbing park here in Sirdal.
After many years as a winter destination, Sirdal has had quite a bit of untapped potential when it comes to the summer season and summer activities. Wendy and Sirdal Ski Resort have done something about this by establishing Høyt & Lavt Sirdal, which has carried the baton further and is in constant development.
Right from the start, work has been done to provide a fully fledged offering to locals, cabin tourists and tourists passing through during the summer season. And it could only get bigger and better.
The Mountain Cart facility was expanded with an additional trail, and the climbing park has expanded bit by bit and now consists of no fewer than 7 different trails of varying difficulty suitable for both children and adults. For the slightly more daring, you will also find a total of 7 zip lines in the facility, one of which is a massive 234 metres long! Across a total of 58 elements spread around the park, visitors can challenge their balance, agility and, not least, give their laughter muscles a workout.
In 2020, water activities also became a bigger part of the summer activities offered here. An aquapark made up of various elements was set up in the middle of Beinesvatnet. The aquapark became a major attraction for both young and old who enjoy warm summer days on the beach right by Høyt & Lavt Sirdal. A contribution from Sirdal municipality’s «Heimesommar» project in 2021 meant that the aquapark was expanded further and new elements were connected. You can also hire both canoes and SUP boards here, for those who wish to enjoy a peaceful yet exciting voyage of discovery along the water's edge.
In 2022, the name Sirdal Sommerpark was established to help make it clear that there is actually a lot going on here in Sirdal during the summer as well. All of this fun can be found in Hulderheimen in Tjørhomfjellet.
Throughout the winter, Wendy has been working on developing several activities for the whole family. Starting from the summer of 2022, there will be trampolines, disc golf, an expansion of the water park, and other new features.
One of this year's new offerings is an activity camp for children aged 11–14. The camps will be held in weeks 26, 27 and 32, and consist of 4 days packed with activities and experiences in nature. Here, children have the opportunity to take part in outdoor play and learning, develop new skills, learn about cooperation and, not least, make new acquaintances.
The last two years have been characterised by distancing rules and the measures have dictated where in the world people can stay. This has made more locals, cabin tourists and visitors more aware of the fantastic offerings we actually have here in Sirdal during the summer, and they have taken advantage of these. The success from these years has made it possible for Wendy and Sirdal Summer Park to both expand existing offerings and grow in the years ahead.
