Haugen to Fidjeland

Startsted
Start on foot or take a taxi from Haugen Hytteutleie og Camping to the barrier on the construction road in Hønedalen (3.8 km). The trail starts right by the barrier.

Route description:
From the barrier you head out in a northerly direction. After a 5-10 minute walk you come to Hønetjødn, which has an inviting beach for warm summer days! Continue around the tarns, and turn northeast towards Hønestøl, and further from here in a northerly direction up the slightly steep Urdalsskaret. Allow 30 minutes to the summit, before starting the descent to Finnstøl (10 minutes). Continue northwards through Finnstøldalen, along the left-hand side of the stream. The stream becomes livelier the further north you get. Soon you will see the jagged mountains at Svartups, as well as Jogledalen on your right-hand side. At the Smølåsen cabin development you will come to a sheep fence with a gate that makes it easy to pass. Remember to close the gate behind you! After a couple of minutes you will reach the access road up to the cabin development (Smølåsen), follow this a short way down until you come to the bridge where you can safely cross the Joglaelven river and walk up to Sirdal Høyfjellshotell. Alternatively, you can continue straight ahead, and you will arrive at Fidjeland Hytteutleige. On the way down to Fidjeland you will see Degdammen. This was built between 1968 and 1970 and has a height of 90 metres, with a dam crest of 390 metres.
