Heiberghytta or Trongenhytta from the early 1900s represents what was one of Norway's very first truly major tourism products. Here, the nobility from Germany and England met to hunt wild reindeer, staying overnight in what were then luxury mountain lodges.
Here you can feel the old hunting stories in the walls, such as when Finland's great war hero and later president Carl Gustav Mannerheim mixed politics with hunting and tall tales on one of his many visits to the Heiberghytta.

In the mountain dairy hut, you get to experience the most Norwegian of the Norwegian. When summer arrived and the grass in the mountains was lush, livestock was brought up to the mountains. The whole family accompanied the procession. Life at the mountain dairy was simple and good during the short summer months.

Or how about a simple overnight stay on a mattress in an old schoolhouse. Framheim was a typical school in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A smack on the fingers was common if you forgot to bow and curtsy to the teacher.
