Route description:
Start walking westwards, first up a gentle slope for 5–10 minutes, then across a large marshy area, before climbing a narrow ridge until you reach a signposted junction. Continue westwards, first through a narrow gorge, before turning left and continuing along the edge of the mountain. Keep parallel to the power line for the next few kilometres. Then follow the southern side of the upper Ramsdalstjødn. At the western end, cross the stream and follow it further uphill. At the next pond, cross the stream back over so that you follow the southern side of this pond as well. At the end of the pond, cross another stream and walk diagonally uphill in a westerly direction. Pass under the power lines you have been following so far. Continue up Søra Kamsbrekka. From the top, you’ll have a magnificent view of the dramatic Kamsdalen valley. From here, the path leads down the slope, and about halfway down, you’ll cross the slope at a signposted junction. You’ll change direction to the south-west and climb towards the 1145-metre peak. Good navigation skills are essential in this rugged terrain. Just below the summit, you’ll come to a large cairn, from which you’ll have a magnificent view of Lyseheiane. Shortly after the cairn, the path turns left, heading further south towards the power line and Vaulatjødna. Just by the power line, you turn south-west down into a deep gully. It is quite steep here and you will need to climb down. In spring (May/June), there may still be a lot of snow here, and it can be a challenge to make your way on! Continue along the north side of Heimra Vaulatjødna, and on to Indra Brudletjødna, which you should walk on the east side of. Some sections along this lake consist of steep, rocky ground, which can be challenging in wet weather or when there is a lot of snowmelt. The path then continues on the south-eastern side of Heimra Brudlitjørna and heads towards Lysedalen, before turning north-west round a small mountain peak, after which you begin the descent along Jenafjell. Towards the foot of the mountain, you’ll need to cross some steep rocky outcrops again before reaching a regulated pond on your right, which you should walk alongside. At the end of the pond, you’ll come to a dam, and from here you follow the stream further down the valley. Once you’ve rounded Jenafjell, the path improves considerably and you’ll make good progress down the path to the road by the Tangen farm.
