Scenic bathing spots
There are several great swimming spots in Sirdal. Several of them are located along the road, making it easy to stop for a cooling swim on a hot day.
SANDVATN STRAND
Lovely and child-friendly bathing spot with shallow water that is ideally suited for the smallest ones. Beach volleyball court and car park close to the bathing spot.
Location:
By FV42 at the northern end of Sandvatnet, 1 km from the junction towards Gyland station.
ØKSENDALSTJØDNA
A nicely landscaped bathing spot with a sandy beach, a small jetty and a diving board. Kayaks for loan and a great beach volleyball court. Good barbecue facilities with equipment and a disabled toilet, which the residents' association has established. Feel free to support the work of the residents' association:
Directions:
At Haugom on the FV42, you turn off towards Ovedal on the FV976 to get to Øksendalstjødna. On the way back, you can continue along the road. After 600 metres, you come back down to the FV42.
Sirdalsvatnet
Between the wharf and the mouth of the Sira, there are good opportunities for swimming.
Swimming spot by Sirdal Culture House
Superbly newly renovated swimming spot near the culture house at Tonstad in nice surroundings, with a fun bathing facility for everyone. Volleyball and football pitch close by.
LINDELAND
Near Lindeland camping there are good swimming opportunities in the river that runs through Sirdal.
NESSETFOSSEN
One of the most famous swimming spots in Sirdal, where the water has over many years shaped gorgeous deep potholes surrounded by majestic waterfalls. Here you can swim, jump, dive and explore the area for hours.
TJØRHOMFJELLET/SIRDAL RESORT
Sirdal Resort has a water park and swimming beach right by Høyt og Lavt Sirdal, which contains two elements. The iceberg, which is 4.5 metres, in addition to a longer element with four «arms».
WATER PARK AT SINNES FJELLSTUE
By Sinnes Fjellstue and the roundabout at Sinnes, there is a water park in Sinnesvatnet. There are two elements, a wall and a «mat». Parking on the opposite side of the road and Sinnesvatnet, towards Ålsheia.
Swimming spot by Sirdal Culture House
Splendid newly renovated bathing spot near Sirdal cultural centre in lovely surroundings, with a fun bathing facility for everyone. Volleyball and football pitch close by.
The water parks are free to use, but all bathing takes place at your own risk.
Please ensure you observe local regulations at all bathing areas.
For the adventurous
If you are the adventurous type, you will also find countless lovely swimming spots in the mountains. Take a break along the Suleskarvegen road (Fv 987/337), Hunnedalen (Fv 45), Gyadalen towards Helleland (Fv 42) or the road to Kvinesdal/Evje (Fv 42).
