Description:
From Hompland, 7 km north of Tonstad, there will be many paths up the mountain, west of the valley. To Steindalsknuten it will be a 6,3 km walk from the road if starting south of Hompland by the river Hemså. From there, walk over a pasture and up an old road, arriving on a tractor road leading to Steian. Take the left turn as you proceed up the dirt road until you see a sign from the road and inwards on the path from the eastern side of Øvre Løynatjønn. Here you will pass a bog before heading up to Heimrestøl. From here the landscape will open up towards Slettheia. From here, continue up Grønheia towards Steindalsknuten 748 meter above sea level. You should estimate 5 hours, both ways.

If you want a longer hike there will be signs leading to Falkeknuten, 3,5 km further to the north.
