Kjerag -- the majesty of Ryfylke, located innermost in Lysefjorden! At 1084 meters above sea level, Kjerag is the tallest of all the mountains in Lysefjorden.
Kjerag should not be visited during winter and the season spans from the beginning of June till the end of September. Always bring a guide if going to Kjerag off season.
The mountain has primarily been admired from the fjord but during recent years it has become more and more popular to walk the tourist path up towards the actual top. Most will be happy to just admire the view of Lysefjorden from the plateau but for many hikers the goal will be to get a photo taken on Kjeragbolten, a round rock that has been lodged in a crevice. Kjerag has also become a popular destination for mountaineers and base jumpers.
